Multisoft standardizes Boliden's logistics & supplier processes

Boliden Bergsöe in Landskrona plays a crucial role as the Nordic region's only secondary smelter for lead and is one of Europe's leading recyclers of used car batteries. To maintain an efficient cycle for this valuable metal, it is essential that operations run seamlessly. Multisoft has supported Boliden Bergsöe in their challenge to manage logistics and supplier arrivals in a more organized way.

Boliden fokuserar på olika steg i förädlingskedjan, från prospektering, gruvbrytning och anrikning till smältning, raffinering och återvinning av metaller. Återvinning av metaller har blivit en allt större del av företagets verksamhet, och Boliden är en av de främsta aktörerna i världen inom området. Företaget producerar huvudsakligen zink, koppar, nickel och bly, men även andra metaller som guld och silver.

Before the collaboration with Multisoft, there was no standardized process for how suppliers notified their arrival at the facility. Although Bergsöe has the capacity to receive several arrivals simultaneously, operations could usually only handle two due to irregular and manual registration of supplier arrivals.

We did not have control over which materials, how much material was coming, and which suppliers were coming to us, so we had a very uneven workload and an unsustainable work environment, says Lotta Fellerstam.

By implementing an adaptable system from Multisoft, suppliers can now book times for their arrivals, register arrival information, and list materials to be delivered.

The new system has enabled both suppliers and employees at Boliden Bergsöe to have a better overview of arrival times and contents, creating a smoother process. Employees can easily postpone arrival times in case of delays, thereby filling all available time slots.

Today, deliveries are handled in a structured manner, and Boliden Bergsöe can now fully utilize its lead recycling facility, ensuring efficient and sustainable management of the valuable metal's lifecycle. Additionally, employees at the facility have experienced a less stressful and more organized work environment as unannounced deliveries have significantly decreased.

Today, I would say that we have 99% control over who and what is coming and when, says Lotta Fellerstam.

Multisoft's adaptable system has proven to be a crucial solution for optimizing Boliden Bergsöe's processes and managing their supplier arrivals more smoothly. The collaboration has contributed to sustainable management of one of the world's most valuable metals while creating a more efficient and organized work environment for employees.
